Jamu Lodge

The Jamu Lodge is located along the Rio Cuyabeno in the Cuyabeno reserve close to the ‘Laguna Grande’. All the cabañas are built in the traditional, rustic style with thatched roofs. The Jamu lodge works together with different communities which you will visit to learn about the customs and traditions of the local people. The lodge consists of 5 cabañas with three different types of accommodation: multiple, double with hot water and double with cold water. All the cabañas are lit with candles to preserve the feeling of the jungle. In the Jamu Lodge you can enjoy a cocktail at the bar or relax with a beer in the hammock lounge!

Itinerary – 5-day program.
(4-day program is the almost the same, only day 4  will not be done)

Day 1:
Pick-up by bus in Lago Agrio to Cuyabeno Reserve. Lunch in Cuyabeno. Motorized canoe trip to the lodge, in the meanwhile spotting animals! Arrival around 4 at the lodge where you get explanation about facilities and rooms. Time to relax. Watch the beautiful sunset, have a nice swim in the lagoon and on the way back to the lodge try to spot caimans. Dinner in the lodge.

Day 2:
Breakfast around 8 o’clock. Beautiful hike in the primary forest, the hike takes about 2 hours. Back in the lodge lunch and siesta. In the afternoon we go piranha fishing, swimming and trying to observe the river dolphins. Back in the lodge we have dinner.

Day 3:
Early bird watching in the morning at the ‘Laguna Grande’. Breakfast in the lodge. After you will visit a community where you will see how they prepare the bread ‘casave’. In the afternoon you have a late lunch and around half past 5 a night walk. Back in the hostel dinner is ready!

Day 4:
Breakfast. Around 9 you leave in dugout canoes to see floating forest for more wildlife. There you have a hike and lunch on the way. After piranha fishing or a swim in the ‘Laguna Grande’. In the late afternoon you return and you have dinner in the lodge.

Day 5:
Breakfast. In a motorized canoe to Cuyabeno and from there you go back to Lago Agrio by bus. Lunch on the way.

Dorm:
4 days: $220,- p.p. 
5 days: $260,- p.p.

Private double:
4 days: $255,- p.p.  
5 days: $295,- p.p.

Included:
Private transport from Lago Agrio - Puente Cuyabeno - Lago Agrio, river transportation, bilingual guide, three meals daily, lodging, rubber boots, rain ponchos and excursions.

Not included:
Transportation Quito – Lago Agrio – Quito, entrance fee ($2,-), community $4,- and extra drinks.
