Jamu, coming from the word Armadillo in Siona. It´s a beautiful, privately-owned lodge in the Cuyabeno Reserve, where the guests can enjoy a variety of activities. The Jamu Lodge is located along the Cuyabeno River, 15 minutes down-river from the spectacular Laguna Grande.
The Jamu Lodge practices a policy of minimum environmental impact. All of the cabañas are lit naturally with candles to preserve the feeling of being in a remote jungle. Solar panels provide the lodge with electricity and are used to operate the telephone.
All inorganic material is removed from the reserve regularly and organic material is composted. Additionally, all of the waste water coming from the lodge is treated using natural enzymes and bacteria. The lodge believes in true eco-tourism and intended to make your stay as comfortable as possible, while preserving the beauty of the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve for the future.
Cabañas: the Jamu Lodge has 3 cabins and 2 towers. The Lodge is built in a traditional, rustic style, with high thatched roofs. Three of the cabins have 2 double rooms each (beds with mosquito nets); each with its own private bathrooms and a shower; environmentally friendly.
The 2 Towers have 8 double and 2 triple rooms. In a two-story cabin is the spacious dining room and the hammock room.
In the heart of the Jamu Lodge you will find a spacious dining room. The crew is proud to prepare and serve fresh food in such a secluded location. In this activity the lodge makes sure that fresh and local ingredients, such as bananas and cassava. These are used at the base of the recipes, so that you have the pleasure of eating and enjoying the virgin environment of the surrounding jungle. After the meals, you can enjoy a cocktail at the bar or relax with a beer in the comfortable hammock lounge.
