Welcome to Napo Wildlife Center. The lodge is located on the shores of Lake Anangucocha, in the unique ancestral territory of the Anangu Quichua community. Thanks to its initiative and supported by the Tropical Nature Conservation System, Ecuador’s first luxury Amazon Lodge has been carefully built in society.

Napo Wildlife Center Cabins and Suites

The lodge has Standard cabins and suites with a balcony for single, double, and triple occupancy. The cabins and Suites are fully equipped. In the lodge you find electricity and ventilation, a security box, a hair dryer, slippers and a bathing cap and a Hammock. Room service is available in the lodge.

Napo Wildlife Centre Activities

The lodge offers 4, 5 and 6-day tours, with peaceful canoe rides through winding waterways to guided hikes along jungle trails. The tours connect you with the essence of this unique habitat. You can see animals such as Monkeys, 600+ bird species, 200+ fish species, Reptiles and Amphibians.

Premium Tour; 4 days / 3 nights

Day1

Departing from Quito, a 30 minute flight to Coca over the eastern Andes mountain range. After landing, about mid-morning, 5 min transfer will take you to “La Mision” Port, where you will embark onto a comfortable covered motor boat. Here we start a canoe ride along the Napo River for about 2 hours, box lunch and coffee is provided in route. Along the way, birds like herons, kingfishers and others can be spotted. After arriving at NWC’s entry dock we disembark for restroom then take a majestic and peaceful 2 hours paddle canoe ride surrounded by trees, paddling along a narrow creek that connects to the lake where the lodge is located. Chances to spot some species of monkeys as well as large birds like toucans, parrots or even macaws. Late afternoon arrival to Napo Wildlife Center with an overwhelming view of the Añangu Lake, welcome drink followed by a briefing of the local manager.
Day2

Early wake up to reach the easiest access parrot clay licks in Ecuador, about 1 hour away from the lodge, guests reach there just before parrot activity kicks off at the clay lick between 7:30 to 8:30. A total of 11 species of parrots, parakeets and macaws can be seen. Later, hike along forest trail to visit the Kichwa Community of Añangu and sharing time with a family on their activities. Return to the creek and hike through a Terra Firme Forest for about 30 minutes until we arrive to the second parrot clay lick where if the weather conditions help will be able to find different species of parrots, parakeets and even macaws. Lunch at Napo Cultural Center, where you share with people of the kichwa community. You will be paddled back to the lodge, where you arrive at late afternoon with a delicious dinner awaiting for you.
Day3

After early breakfast, we leave the lodge to experience an amazing view of the rainforest from a 36m. tall canopy tower, a great way to see the life above the ground of the forest. This is the second tower at the Napo Wildlife Center (the first is attached to the dining hall and allows great views of the lake). The tower is located about 30 minutes from the lodge deep within the terra firme forest. As you ascend the 12- floor tower, you pass through different levels of the forest and emerge on top of a huge Ceiba tree. Here you cross onto a wooden platform that is actually built into the tree and experience the view formerly reserved only for the birds. The metal tower itself was constructed to the highest standards, galvanized, and carefully inspected by engineers. Safety is the priority. The platform at the top of the tree was constructed by tree platform specialists as well. From top to bottom, there is no finer canopy experience in Eastern Ecuador. Flocks of colorful tanagers pass right through the canopy of the tree, Blue-and yellow Macaws fly past, in nearby trees Spider Monkeys search for fruit, two species of large toucans call in the early mornings and afternoons, and the life of the forest canopy opens before you. Birds that are virtually impossible to see from the forest floor far below are suddenly right beside you, oblivious to your presence. The canopy tower opens a whole new world to guests of the Napo Wildlife Center!! Lunch served at the lodge. Afternoon visit to a terra firme trail, hike along primary forest to discover the forest interior, possibilities of finding lizards, colorful manakins or the unique and endemic Golden mantle tamarin monkeys. After the hike, explore the lake and creeks by dugout canoe with great possibilities of running into a Giant otter family on the way.
Day4

Early departure and last excursion canoeing back to the Napo river, the creek may reveal new sights of Giant otters, Monk Saki monkeys or many other rare birds. Transfer to the motorized canoe in order to return back to Coca, arrival approximately after a 2 hours boat ride in order to check-in for Coca – Quito flight, schedule to be announced according to departure details and arrangements.

Day1

A rewarding 30 minute flight to Coca over the eastern Andes mountain range is the beginning of this amazing experience. After landing, a short 5 minute drive to the port in the Napo River will take you onto a comfortable covered motor boat. Here we start a boat ride along the Napo for approximately 2 hours. Some birds can be spotted on the way. After arriving at Napo Wildlife Center’s welcoming area, we take a magical and peaceful 2 hour dugout-canoe along a narrow creek that connects to the lake where the lodge is located. Great chances to spot wildlife, various species of monkeys as well as large birds like toucans, parrots or even macaws. Late afternoon arrival at the lodge.
Day2

After a buffet breakfast, experience the life above the forest floor visiting the 36-meter canopy tower. This tower is located about 30 minutes from the lodge deep within the forest. Get a very good sample of the 567 species recorded so far, with a close look at colorful tanagers, macaws, toucans, flycatchers and even Spider or Howler Monkeys feeding themselves on the nearby trees. The canopy tower opens a whole new world to the guests of the Napo Wildlife Center. Return to the lodge for a typical Ecuadorian lunch. After lunch there are many options to choose from before you start the afternoon activity: climb the central tower for birdwatching, or just relax in your hammock. In the afternoon, hike through a marvelous terra- firme forest to discover the ecology and the role of plants in the complex world of the Tropical Rain-Forest: vines, ancient trees, bromeliads, orchids stand out in this impressive natural garden. After the hike, explore the surrounding creeks with possibilities of running into a Giant otter family. A delicious dinner awaits for you at 7:30pm.
Day3

This morning we visit the best parrot clay licks in Ecuador!!! Early start and paddle downstream on the Añangu creek as far as the welcome area. Then, take the motor boat for a 10 minute ride for a wonderful view of thousands of parrots such as the amazon-mealy, blue-headed, orange –cheek, among others landing on the earth to eat some clay. Later, back to the welcome area and a short hike to the parakeets’ clay lick, where hundreds of cobalt-winged parakeets remain on the top of the trees searching for the best time to get minerals form the clay, Lunch at Napo Cultural Center. In the afternoon, visit the interpretation area to learn about traditions of the ancestral Kichwa community of añangu. Back to the lodge, late in the afternoon where you’ll be welcomed back with a refreshing fruit drink. Dinner at 7:30pm.
Day4

This morning we hike along the Tiputini trail and its terra-firma forests and swamp forests, searching for more wildlife such as Golden-Mantled Tamarins, White-Faced capuchin monkey, two and three toed sloths, pigmy squirrels, carnivores and their tracks on the forest floor. Back to the lodge for lunch and a well deserved rest. In the afternoon paddle canoes will take you to explore deeper areas in the surrounding creeks with more possibilities of seeing unique wildlife. After dinner you will share a talk about the community and Napo Wildlife Center.
Day5

Early breakfast, and last excursion canoeing back to the Napo river, the creek may reveal new sights of Giant otters, Monk Saki monkeys, hoatzins, blackcapped donacobius or other birds. The motorized canoe will take you back to Coca, for the flight back to Quito.

Day1

The amazing experience begins with a rewarding 30 minute flight over the eastern Andes mountain range to Coca. If you've booked your flights through us, we'll arrange for an airport pickup upon your arrival in Coca. We'll receive you in a private dock once you arrive at the riverside, where you can take a bathroom break and have refreshments, you'll also receive a delicious lunch box. Here, we'll wait for our covered boat, your luggage will be sent directly to the lodge. From there, embark on a thrilling 2-hour motorboat ride down the main river until you reach the tributary. Take a break at the welcoming area, complete with restrooms and drinks, before we take a magical and peaceful 2 hour dugout-canoe ride along a narrow creek that connects to the lake where the lodge is located. This is a great opportunity to spot wildlife. Late afternoon arrival at the lodge.
Day2

After enjoying a buffet breakfast, guests can experience life above the forest floor by visiting the 36-meter canopy tower, which is located about 30 minutes from the lodge deep within the forest. Guests can observe a variety of colorful birds, including tanagers, macaws, toucans, and flycatchers, as well as Spider or Howler Monkeys feeding themselves on the nearby trees. The canopy tower offers a unique perspective and opens up a whole new world for guests of the Napo Wildlife Center. After returning to the lodge for a typical Ecuadorian lunch, guests have many options to choose from before starting the afternoon activity. They can climb the central tower for birdwatching or simply relax in their hammock. In the afternoon, hike through a marvelous terra-firme forest to discover the ecology and role of plants in the complex world of the Tropical Rainforest. You'll observe vines that climb up ancient trees, bromeliads that grow on branches, and colorful orchids that bloom in the forest understory. After the hike, explore the surrounding creeks, with the possibility of encountering a family of Giant Otters. A delicious dinner awaits you at night.
Day3

The day starts with an early wake-up call to reach the easiest access parrot clay licks in Ecuador, which is about an hour away from the lodge. Guests arrive just before parrot activity kicks off in the morning. A total of 11 species of parrots, parakeets, and macaws can be seen. Later, hike along a forest trail to visit the Kichwa Interpretation center “Kuri Muyu" which is run by the women of the community, also known as “mamakunas”. Here, you'll learn about the Kichwa culture, crafts, customs, and traditional use of natural resources. After the visit, guests will return to the creek and hike through a Terra Firme Forest for about 30 minutes until they arrive at the second parrot clay lick, where, weather permitting, they will be able to see different species of parrots, parakeets, and even macaws. Lunch will be served before guests are paddled back to the lodge. You'll arrive in the late afternoon, and a delicious dinner will be waiting.
Day4

Today, we'll embark on a challenging trek along the "Guangana" trail (high difficulty), which will take us to an altitude of 250 meters above sea level. This trail combines flooded and dry forests, swamps, and a rich variety of plant species, offering a thrilling experience in the Ecuadorian Amazon. Along the way, we'll have the opportunity to search for the unique mammal species known as "guanganas," after which this location is named. It is also possible to come across jaguar and wild cat tracks during this hike. Throughout the trek, our local guide will provide insights into the intricate ecosystems of the tropical rainforest. In the afternoon, we'll embark on a boat tour of the Añangucocha lagoon and its adjacent stream, known as "cariañangu". During this tour, we'll have the opportunity to observe the diverse flora that surrounds this area, which is home to howler and spider monkeys, giant otters, and many other species of wildlife.
Day5

On this day, we'll venture to Pañacocha Lagoon, located on the other side of the Napo River. It promises to be a fun-filled day exploring the natural wonders and wildlife of this area, and if we're lucky, there's a chance to see pink dolphins! We'll depart from the Napo Wildlife Center in the morning and navigate through the magnificent Creek, where there is always something magical to discover. As we approach Pañacocha, which takes approximately 90 minutes, we'll begin to spot various animals of the Amazon Rainforest. Upon arrival, we'll receive an introduction about the area and we'll share a boxed lunch to be enjoyed either in the canoe or at the facilities of a nearby lodge, where guests can use the res - taurant and restrooms. Then, it’s time to go for a swim in the marvelous lagoon! In this area, you'll observe the Igapó Forest, with the possibility of spotting Macaws, Sloths, Squirrel Monkeys, Black-mantled Tamarins, Capuchin Monkeys, Anacondas, and many other species. The flora in this area includes the Coral Tree, Palm Tree, and others. While sailing through this wetland, you might also see Black Caimans and various species of birds. We make our way back to Napo Wildlife Center in the afternoon and after enjoying a delicious dinner prepared by our chefs, take a night walk through the forest trails to discover how life continues in the rainforest at this time.
Day6

We'll depart very early in the morning for our final excursion, navigating down the Napo River until we reach the Añangu Community Dock, where we'll meet up with other guests returning to El Coca. The flight schedule from Coca to Quito will be announced according to the arrangements and itineraries proposed by the airline.
