The Nicky Amazon Lodge is located in the upper part of the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve.
The Lodge is the perfect place to feel at home in the middle of the Rainforest. Explore and admire one of the particular ecosystems of the Amazon basin namely the flooded forest or Igapo in the Laguna Grande.

Nicky Amazon Lodge Suites

The Nicky Amazon Lodge has 6 large cabins with 15 spacious bedrooms in total. The cabins are built in the traditional way made with palm leaf roofs. The lodge has space for solo travelers and groups and families up to 5 persons per room. Each room includes a private bathroom with hot water and enough storage space for all your belongings. All 6 cabins have balcony areas including hammocks to relax.

Nicky Amazon Lodge Activities

The Nicky Amazon Lodge provides many activities and has different tours. You can choose for a 3-day to 5-day tour at the lodge or even for a canoe paddling tour, paddle board tour or a camping tour.

Each day is dedicated to discovering different animal- and plant species in the Amazon Rainforest. You will be guided by canoe through the Amazon across the river. Here you will have the chance to discover many bird and monkey species. But also, piranha’s, sloths, butterflies, caimans and pink dolphins.

The guides at the lodge know everything about the Amazon and will take you on a plant medicine hike through the jungle and diverse night walks to also get to know the Amazon by night. At night the guide will introduce you to many different insects, spiders, snakes, frogs and many more.

Get cultural and make your own yucca bread at the Siona tribe. Get to know them and how they live in the jungle.

The Nicky Amazon Lodge is a nice lodge where you will meet new people from all over the world who love nature as much as you do. You will have breakfast, lunch and dinner together at the lodge and also all the activities, which is super special and fun.

Day1

The journey begins at “El Puente' 11h00, the main access to the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve and our last stop with the civilization. We continue in a motorized canoe downstream for about 2 hours until we each the Nicky Amazon Lodge. With a little luck we’ll be able to observe the first monkey and bird species along the way. The Cuyabeno river is extremely narrow in this region and allows you to experience wildlife up close. A welcome cocktail waiting for your arrival at the lodge. Later you will have time to rest and go on your first exploratory activity in the surrounding area. After dinner, we’ll explore the lodge's surroundings to look for nocturnal animals such as insects, spiders, snakes and frogs, a live which becomes active when the sun sets.
Day2

Early in the morning we’ll explore the area looking for monkeys and birds in the awakening tropical rainforest. Return for Breakfast. After we’ll have an interesting activity, we will visit our Indigenous Siona community to share their daily life in the Amazon Basin. we’ll have a demonstration on how to make ‘Cassave’, the typical manioc bread of the region. Additional we’ll learn about the local customs and traditions of their past and present culture. Return for the lunch. In the afternoon we’ll travel by motorized canoe upstream to reach the Laguna Grande. As we explore the lagoon, we’ll learn about the 'Igapó', the ecosystem of the flooded forest and dominated by giant macrolobium trees which provide habitat for epiphytes and some species of birds such as cormorants. After exploring the lagoon, we can swim in the calm waters while watching the spectacular sunset of the Amazon region. Later we’ll continue our adventure observing the nocturnal fauna of the river landscape with some species of bats and looking for caimans before returning to the lodge. Dinner.
Day3

Optional morning excursion includes a short trip by canoe, taking advantage of the early morning hours we’ll observe the animals during your morning activities and to say goodbye to the jungle keeping in our minds the best pictures of the spectacular place. After breakfast 07h30 at the lodge you will have time to pack your luggage for the return journey at 08hh00. We provide a box lunch for the trip. The ride takes you upstream back to the civilization at 'El Puente de Cuyabeno at 10h00. Where a tourist bus will take you back to directly to Quito or maybe you want to catch a public bus back to Lago Agrio at approximately 13h00h and from there you will return to Quito.

Some time to relax before we’ll walk through the rainforest and our guide will share all his knowledgeand experiences. We’ll learn how themost diverse life forms can coexist in the natureand survive side by side within a delicate balance. We may spot colorful butterflies, frogs and listen some birds as we learnmore about the great varietyof flora. Return to the lodge for lunch.After we have short time to rest enjoying the nature, swimming, play soccer or just a pleasantnap. In the afternoon we’ll take a trip by canoe down the Cuyabeno River, taking us through the dense jungle landscape. We’ll observe the wildlife found on the riverbanks, including monkeys, macaw s, toucans and sloths. We’ll have a good chance to see the pink river dolphins in the impressive river andscape. Before dinner, after dusk, we’ll explore the lodge's surroundings to look for nocturnal animals such as insects, spiders, snakes and frogs, a live whichbecomes active when the sun sets.
Day3

In the morning we’ll have the opportunity for an additional excursion, either in our canoe or hiking. The choice depends on the weather conditions and the interests of the group. After breakfast, we will explore a pristine stretch of the jungle. Our guide will tell you more about the medicinal use of the flora as it has been used by native cultures for generations and how they could survive into the jungle. At lunch time, we return to the lodge for a rest. In the afternoon, we’ll explore the Cuyabeno River paddling by canoe and enjoy the views of the exceptional scenery and listen to the sounds of the jungle as we look for exotic local species. Really an amazing activity.
Day5
